Su iglesia hom\u00f3nima, cuya construcci\u00f3n inici\u00f3 en el siglo XVI y tard\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 150 a\u00f1os en terminarse, mezcla varios estilos arquitect\u00f3nicos y acoge variopintas historias del folklore quite\u00f1o. En el Altar Mayor de esta iglesia podr\u00e1s observar a la famosa Virgen de Legarda, una escultura del artista mestizo Bernardo de Legarda que muestra a una virgen alada, una de las mayores piezas de la famosa \u00abescuela quite\u00f1a\u00bb y una de las obras de arte m\u00e1s importantes de Am\u00e9rica Latina. La llamada \u00abCapilla de Cantu\u00f1a\u00bb, una de las capillas laterales del Convento de San Francisco, es la protagonista de una de las leyendas m\u00e1s famosas de Quito: la leyenda de Cantu\u00f1a, mito que explica la creaci\u00f3n y construcci\u00f3n de esta iglesia. Puedes escuchar la historia mientras experimentas la vida quite\u00f1a en la plaza o disfrutas de la primera cervecer\u00eda de Quito, ubicada tambi\u00e9n en el complejo religioso de San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> Muy cerca se encuentra otro de los templos representativos de la ciudad de Quito: La llamada \u00abIglesia de la Compa\u00f1\u00eda\u00bb. Esta iglesia, constru\u00edda por los jesu\u00edtas, es, sin duda, el m\u00e1ximo exponente del barroco quite\u00f1o y una de las construcciones m\u00e1s importantes de Am\u00e9rica Latina. Este templo es famoso por su retablo y sus paredes interiores, todas recubiertas por l\u00e1minas de \u00abpan de oro\u00bb; y por su fachada, levantada en piedra y considerada uno de los mayores exponentes de la arquitectura barroca del mundo. Caminar por el interior de \u00abLa Compa\u00f1\u00eda\u00bb te har\u00e1 entender su importancia: no hay visitante que no se deslumbre y no se deje conmover por el resplandor del oro, por sus cuadros, por sus murales y por los detalles que guardan las paredes, el piso, las columnas.<\/span><del datetime=\"2023-11-30T14:48:42+00:00\"><\/del><\/p>\n<p>Muy cerca est\u00e1n otros templos importantes, como el convento de San Agust\u00edn y la Iglesia del Sagrario.
